A little known urban gem in Dublin’s North Inner City is set to come alive this weekend as details of an open-air concert have just been revealed. Nestled just off Dublin’s Foley Street, Liberty Park will play host to a specially curated series of live performances this Saturday, 22nd October, between 3pm-9pm. “Liberty Vibe” will feature a diverse range of music from pop to R&B, funk to eletronica, and hip hop to jazz. The concert will feature a collection of Dublin’s most cutting edge musicians, as well as some younger local legends. Best of all? The event is completely free and open to the public to attend.
Amongst the line-up just announced, Irish R&B sensation Cosha will headline the Liberty Park event. Raised between Dublin and Wicklow, Cosha made her Glastonbury Debut in 2017, and has collaborated with everyone from Charli XCX to Nile Rodgers. The seven-piece Dublin band Cooks But We're Chefs, known for their eclectic fusion of jazz, soul and hip hop will also be playing, as will electric punk duo Nixer and the urban dance crew Black Canvas Curations. It will no doubt be a special gig for sister duo Zeztra, singer-songwriter Chloe Harris and hip-hop performer Temi NLA, as the artists, who are all local to the North Inner City, will be performing on their home turf. Conan Wynne, aka Contour, will be providing stage visuals throughout the six hour music event.
The concert is an initiative by Dublin City Council, with support from the Local Live Performance Programming Scheme. Speaking ahead of the event, Dublin City Arts Officer Ray Yeates is inviting members of the public to come and be inspired:
“One of the few positive takeaways from the pandemic was that it helped us to re-imagine how we could use outdoor spaces for live events. Liberty Park is just a tiny patch of the city, but the intimate concert will further demonstrate the potential for similar temporary cultural events and happenings. It is wonderful to see so many local artists playing at the concert. Music sounds better shared, and I would invite the local community, as well as visitors to the city, to come be inspired by our local talent”.
Liberty Park is located on Foley Street. It sits adjacent to Dublin City Arts Office, The LAB Gallery, and DanceHouse. The park is a 5 minute walk from Dublin’s Connolly Station.
Liberty Vibe will take place this Saturday, 22nd October between 3pm-9pm. Admission is free. The event is supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media’s Local Live Performance Programming Scheme. #LocalLive #MusicPR
